I still feel "new" to blogging after almost six months.
When it gets busy around here I feel like I am neglecting my blog and all of the other wonderful blogs out there that I love. I don't get time to read them or comment as I should.
So get a cup of coffee or tea and pull up a chair and listen while paint and talk so I can get you caught up what's going on around here because that's EXACTLY how this table got painted.
Let me explain.
My best friend Kristy moved away a year ago to Philly.
We were neighbors and friends
and we did everything together.
When she moved it was as if half of me had gone with her. She would call or I would call and talk about how hard it was to adjust. What is it about women and their need for female companionship? Anyway, a few weeks ago she pretty much packed her car with all of her belongings and drove to my house and told the hubby where to find her if he wanted to follow. OK, maybe I am exaggerating a little but most of that is true. So they are currently living in my Basement.
So, last week before my party she was helping me clean
out the storage area in the basement
and we came across this table.
I'm not sure why I kept it all these years.
It's oak as you can see and has Queen Ann legs.
So we pulled it out and I decided to paint it.
So, I painted while she continued to organize and put all of my bedding into Space Bags (my new favorite thing).
And of course we talked and talked and talked...
I started with a few coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Cocoa. I wanted to try that color and thought it would look good with the furniture in the basement.
Cute little embellishment isn't it?
It will really show off when it is painted.
So, back to my story.
Kristy packs her stuff and drives out (with the hubby) and gets a job as an administrative assistant, buys a house(just down the street), AND has a cute little Westie puppy waiting for her when she gets settled. (Her poor Westie Duke passed away about a month ago.)
How much Better can it get?
Oh let me tell you it gets better!
Her husband Joe just got a job we found out yesterday!
Sometimes you just have to do things on Bind Faith.
This photo doesn't really show the color very well.
It's a lot warmer than this.
I painted the scroll embellishment with Old White and Waxed with clear wax, dark wax, and then distressed it.
It's waiting for another coat of clear wax.
My houseguests will be staying a few more weeks until their home is ready. I couldn't be happier and I couldn't be Prouder of Kristy!!!
My mom says (and she is a wise woman)
that something happens when you get close to 50
and you just say to hell with it I'm going to do what makes ME happy!!! Maybe it hormonal or maybe it's just your cumulative stored knowledge guiding you
or a combo of both.
Either way I'm thrilled that she's here to STAY!!!
Thanks for hanging out with me while I painted ,

Cindy, Glad your "bestie" and you are able to enjoy each other's company once again! I like your newly painted table in Coco. It's always fun to make something look new again.

I love the way the table turned out and I'm so glad you got your friend back - nearby!
I also was curious what kind of tile you have in the pictures? Have you gotten it recent enough to remember? :)
It turned out lovely!
Sherry
I love that she just got up and left when she realized what she needed to do. Good for her!
