Relaxing on the Screened In Porch

With all that has been happening
around our house this is the perfect spot
for me to relax and unwind.
Our little Summer dog is getting
much better every day!
We are trying hard to get some weight
back on her and she is still a little fragile.
The weather sure has been nice lately.
Everything is green and lush
and the trees are all leafing out.
I haven't planted my flowers
in my pots yet,
but I did buy a few plants
for the screen porch.
My pansy's had a great season
and I hate to pull them out.
But by next week they will have heat stroke.
They did well in my front planter boxes, also.
The cool and rainy weeks
that we had were perfect for them.
I loved driving up to the house
and seeing the beautiful colors.
We are past the freeze stage (I hope)
so it's OK to leave the ferns outside at night.
I put one in my rustic basket for now.
They need to be re-potted
so they have room to grow.
 I love coming out here
and having coffee in the morning.
It's not a large screen porch,
it's about 12 feet by 14 feet, at best.
But it's large enough for sleepy puppies
to take an afternoon nap...
There are lots of comfy, cozy
pillows on the outdoor sofa.
This old grain sack is done up
pillow case style.
I just tucked in the ends.
We have had a lot of showings
these last few weeks.
One day I had back to back to back
showings for four hours straight...
The dogs and I had to take refuge
in my son's backyard.
The feedback is always the same...
LOVE the house!
The house is AMAZING!
BEAUTIFUL Kitchen!
On and on ...  But....
There is always a but, right?
The reason they all give
is directly behind this chair.
When we first moved here there was nothing
but land surrounding us on all sides.
We are on the golf course facing two lovely ponds.
You could look out and see green
and trees everywhere.
But,  (there is that but again)
little by little they started building.
They told us when we bought the house
that they were zoned to build light commercial.
You know, a bank, some office buildings.
But it has taken quite a different turn.
They built apartments
and we weren't happy about that...
They built a shopping center with a Von Maur
and a few other stores and that was OK.
Then they started building closer
and they put in a Stein Mart
and they are working on this monstrosity
called a Sheel's sporting goods store.
The Stein Mart is what everyone objects to.
Mr. Beaux went to every homeowners
meeting and city council meetings
to try and stop the building
but the developers won every time.
Our house would have sold twenty times over
if not for the Stein Mart sign.
The thing is...
that once you are inside
the house it is quiet and peaceful.
I don't really notice commercial stuff.
We are now working with the homeowners
association and the golf course to plant trees
to cover the offensive sign.
It is very frustrating though.
It's like going out on lots of dates
but never getting a second one.
Your life is in a limbo of sorts.
But, looking on the bright side...
as I like to do...
We don't have anywhere to go...
we don't HAVE to move...
So, I'll just stay here in my beautiful house
until the right buyer comes along.

Until Next Time,
Beaux R'eves,
