Ottoman Cubes

I am SO glad it's Friday!
What a busy week!
Mr. Beaux and I finished this little project
last week but I didn't have time to
share it with you all.
So here goes!
I found these little slipcovers
at an Estate Sale a few weeks ago.
They were made to slip over an 18" square cube.
An Interior Designer,
who specialized in window coverings
and all things fabric,
was moving
and she was selling all kinds of goodies.
They were $10 apiece
because it was half off day, of course.
I thought they were so adorable
that I couldn't pass them up.
The only problem was...
I didn't have an 18" cube ottoman...
Mr. Beaux and I put our heads together
and came up with a solution.
He went to the hardware store
and bought little furniture legs
for less than $3.00 each
and stained them with stain
we had in the garage.
He constructed a box out of leftover plywood.
The finished dimensions are
17 3/4" X 17 3/4" X 17" High.
Then it was my turn...
I bought foam at Joann's
and cut it to size.
I glued it on the top
with craft glue
so that it wouldn't move around.
I covered the whole ottoman
with batting that I had in my craft stash
and wrapped it like a present
with a few staples.
I cut some muslin
a couple of inches larger
than the top and stapled it around the edge.
Then I cut a piece of muslin
to go around the edges.
This piece would be 18" X's 4
if you were measuring...
I stapled it on the underneath side
so that when you fold it down the staples don't show.
I know it seems like a lot of work
but it really wasn't
and it is kind of like wearing pretty underthings.
Only you know it's there
but doesn't it make you happy?
I folded the fabric over
and then stapled it underneath
the cube to finish it off.
You can fold the fabric under a bit for a nicer finish.
Ta Da!
An Ottoman in it's underwear!
They are in front of my new sectional right now
while my chair and ottoman is being recovered.
Look in the left hand corner over there...
Someone was pretty put out
that they had to stay off of the sofa
while I was taking pictures...
Wouldn't they be great at the end of a bed?
And.... there she is with her skirt flipped up.
Even the underside of the slipcover is cute fabric.
I'm putting my feet up this weekend for sure!

Until Next Time,
Beaux R'eves,
