I Pulled The Rug Out From Under...So To Speak

As you know,
a lot has been going on around here this week.
Progress is being made on the Hardwoods
in the Master
and I am still in my Spring Cleaning Mode.
This weekend we were moving things out
of the Master so that they could start on the floors
and also getting ready
for Sweetheart pictures at our house.
That means 12+ Kiddos at our house
AND their parents!
I was sprucing up the Dining Room
with some flowers...
I bought these pretty Hydrangeas at Costco.
I can't wait for mine to bloom this year!
I am going to try to get some blues going...
I have some stuff pinned on Pinterest
so hopefully it will work.
Anyway, I digress...
Because we are all dreaming
of Spring at this point aren't we?
Oh, right, I was thinking...
that I would really like to move this rug out of the room.
I wanted a change
and what better time than when Mr. Beaux
was in a moving mood.
These pictures were from
when we had our home listed for sale last Spring.
You can see that the rug matches the stair carpet.
I needed a large rug
and the prices were outrageous!
It was a lot more cost effective
to have a 9X12 rug made at the carpet store.
I picked the matching border
and they bound and backed it with felt.
I Love the Stair Carpet
but I was tiring of the rug
under the dining table.
I want something lighter.

Mr. Beaux and I started to move the table
and he tweaked his back!
Uh Oh!
I called in Miss Beaux to the rescue
and we got our furniture movers out
and the two of us moved the table.
Mr. Beaux protested the whole time
but we didn't let him lift a finger.
All I need is for him to be laid up on my sofa!
I am really happy right now
with these bare floors!
Besides,
with all of the dust happening
it is a good thing!
There are a few other things on my list
for this Dining Room.
First, I am looking for a new Chandelier.
When we built the house 11 years ago
I was living in California
and the Mr. was working here.
I would have to fly in
and make all of the decisions
on the house in a weekend.
Not having any idea of sources in the area
I was kinda stuck with what was offered.
I am so over this bowl fixture!
But at the time it worked.
Second, I need to reupholster these chairs.
I am tired of the pattern.
Mr. Beaux won't let me do it myself!
I don't have enough time,
blah, blah, blah,
I hate it when he is right!
At least it is not a long list!
As you can see,
I am still practicing my photo skills
trying to capture what is outside
while still taking a good interior photo.
How am I doing?

Until Next Time,

Valentine White Out

I thought that an all white table
for Valentine's Day
was appropriate with all of this
cold,
snowy,
icy weather
we are all experiencing.
I used my favorite
Battenburg
lace tablecloth
and mixed in
gold, silver and
antique silver candlesticks.
The gold napkins set off the One King's Lane plates
embossed with a crown
and a Fleur-dis-lis on the charger.
The gold in the flatware
from World Market
compliments the gold tones.
I was fortunate enough to have our
house guest take these photos for me!
You can see Alex's adorable blog here.
To add texture and shine
I used my favorite goblets
passed down in our family
from my great grandmother.
What is that I see on the left?
A hint of color?
Purple tulips in a white ironstone pitcher.
Not the traditional Valentine
red rose
but somehow more wistful this time of year.
The promise of Spring!
Tulips have a way of deciding
where they want to go.
That's what I love about a
mass arrangement
like this.
No planning,
just plunk them in the pitcher
and watch them reach
towards the sun.

My Angel wings from Decor Steals
have made an unexpected appearance.

Dessert and tea are set up on the buffet.
Perhaps the wings
are guarding
dessert from my children!

  I had a heck of a time
keeping them out
of the heart shaped,
chocolate dipped
shortbread cookies!
But, truth be known,
I had a hard time
resisting them
myself!
More tulips in Silver this time.
A Silver tray
with sugar and creamer
and the cookies under glass.
Another Decor Steals goody...
This beautiful carved tray
that I gilded with gold.
Delicate tea cups
and saucers with gold trim
await tea time.
I picked up these sweet luncheon napkins
at the
Mission Road Antique Mall
last weekend.
It was an afternoon date with Mr. Beaux.
Lunch and a stroll through the Antique Mall.
That's my idea
of a fun afternoon!
I have been saving these Limoges dishes
for a Spring tablescape
but somehow they managed
to sneak into this post.

Hungry yet?

Hope you are spending Valentine's Day with those you Love!
Stay Safe and Warm!

Until Next Time,

It's Finally Fall in my Kitchen/Hearth Room

I hope Everyone enjoyed the weekend!
Can you believe it's October already?
It is really feeling like Fall around here with the Gorgeous weather and the fact that we attended the Chiefs Football game yesterday.  They LOST but we had such a fun time!

So, I thought I had better share my Fall Kitchen and Hearth Room before the Witches and Goblins take over!
I'm loving the way my drapes have softened up this room.  They were the perfect addition!
And I shared my Pillows with you last week.
Yes if you are wondering, the dogs are
finding them quite comfy.
Where did my new Dough Bowl end up?
Over in this corner by the Kitchen table and Hutch reside.
Do you see it up there?
There it is on top of the Hutch.
I tried it in a few places like the granite island and over by the built in Hutch but I loved the warm colors over by the table.  The HUGE Tole platter is a Flea Market find for $9.00.
I love adding to my collection and I'm always on the "Hunt" for these trays.
I tucked a few fall leaves and twigs into the corners.
Mr. Rooster has been with me for a while moving around the Kitchen.  He looks good here for Fall don't you think?
I dressed up one of my Nell Hills' Lanterns for Fall.  I placed a Pottery Barn Pumpkin candle on a short candle holder and arranged some fall foilage inside.
More Fall flowers grace the top of the lantern all tied up with lots of rbbon.
This cute dishtowel was an Estate Sale find.  I wanted to layer my table runners and this was just the perfect compliment for the other fabrics.  The bottom runner was a remnant, the next layer is from Williams Sonoma and the Little Gold Roosters holding it all down were from my Design Center.
Let's move around to the other side of the room.
I've kept my Built in Hutch pretty much the same and just added a few Fall touches.
Another Tole tray has a new home in the back of the Hutch.
A few Fall leaves are placed inside is all you need to give a hint of the season.
My new cute cow print is leaning against the back splash.
I placed these tiny pumpkin candles in a Mason jar for fun.
I have sort of pared down the accessories on the built in cabinets that flank the fireplace.
I grouped the items together to make more impact.  Sometimes too many things make me crazy!
I took down the pictures that I had mixed in with the plates.
I'm always looking for new pretty plates to hang up!
I just placed a cute little pumpkin in a basket here.
And another one on the other side.
Three Pottery Barn candles from a few years ago sit on top of the mantle with a few leaves and green pottery.
I wanted to share my little secret ottoman with you.
There is a tray that slides out from underneath.
See the hinged compartment?
How cool is that?
Hmmmm, some people don't agree I guess.
He looks a little bored with the whole thing.
Doesn't it all look cozy for Fall?
I am definitely enjoying this room!
I think it's my favorite!
And I got it finished just in time to redecorate for Halloween!

Until Next Time,
Beaux R'eves
