Realtor Open House

Whew!
The Realtor Open House was today
and I am glad to get that all behind me.
Do they have those in your area?
It's when all of the Realtors parade
through your home and give feedback
to the Realtor who has the listing.
They usually hold it when you first list the home
but it was so close to the holidays
that we decided to wait until January.
In order to get as many Realtors to attend
they usually serve food to entice them to show up.
I didn't have to do anything
but get the house ready.
I snapped a few photos of the
Kitchen Hearth Room
to show you.
You haven't seen the new rug,
sectional, and pillows all put together...
When I was at Home Goods buying the new rug
this cute pillow jumped into my cart.
Doesn't it just scream
"I want Spring to start!"?
I have a few pillows
that I need to sew
but I just haven't found time yet.
So this will have to do for now.
I love the new throw from Pottery Barn.
It's the perfect color!
And do you see the plates on the wall?
They were there before
but I added a few new ones
that I found at Mission Road Antique Mall.
They were in a cute booth
and they were only $10.00 for 7 plates.
They were made in Austria.
I like the soft pattern of the delicate flowers
in the greens and blues.

They are quiet little plates
that are barely a whisper of color from far away.
I set out my blue/green glass bottles
on the sofa back table
and a few Spring-ish pillows
on the French bench by the back doors.
Some of my new Nell Hill's finds
went on the built in hutch.
I put some tea light candles in the votives
and placed them on a white decorative tray that I had.
Just Simple!
My newly recovered chair
got a new pillow that I had in my stash.
The colors go perfectly with the rug.
It's like the rug was always there.
People that come over don't notice it
but they comment on how fresh
and pretty the room looks.
It's like when you get a really great haircut!
Your friends know something is different
but it's not such a big change, just a better look!
I'm just sitting here enjoying it all clean and perfect.
Because, I know pretty soon
all of the dog toys are going to be all over
and the throws and pillows  will be everywhere,
people (and dogs) will make a mess
and clutter up my perfectness...
But that's OK, I would rather live happily
with all of the mess than be lonely in a perfect room!
Besides, I know that I contribute greatly to the chaos!

Until Next Time,
Beaux R'eves,

Laying the Groundwork

They say that a rug is the foundation
of your design scheme
and can harmonize and visually connect
all of the elements in your room.
That's why it is best to start your design inspiration there...
Laying the groundwork so to speak.
After Christmas I started looking
for a new rug for the Hearth Room.
JCPENNEY
My sectional is so neutral
that anything can blend with it
and my hardwood floors are a medium dark
warm tone that will
coordinate with most designs.
That only leaves my Buffalo Check chair
and ottoman that I recently had recovered
which is also neutral.
The rug that I previously had in there
I had purchased about ten years ago.
It is a great quality rug
and it has held up very well.
But it had mostly reds and golds in it
and I wanted to introduce more blue
into my rooms this year.
I am certainly going to keep it
so that I can rotate the rugs with the seasons.
I found this rug on Birch Lane's website
and I liked it but I wasn't sure
that it had enough blues in it
and it was a little more than I wanted to pay.
I searched and searched
around on the internet
until my eyes were blurry!
Finally, on New Year's Day
I was cleaning the house and making sure
all of the Christmas things were put away.
The house looked a little barren
and stripped down
and I was tired of cleaning
so I took off to Home Goods.
Now I told you that I had been cleaning
all day so I had my yoga pants
(that have never seen a minute of yoga)
on and a sweatshirt and not a stitch of
makeup and my hair pulled back.
I start shopping at Home Goods
and I begin to notice that
all of the shoppers are dressed
EXACTLY like ME!
MY PEOPLE!!!
YAY!!!
Anyway, I see this 100% Wool 7X9 rug
hanging on the rack for only $299.00.
It was PERFECT!
I love that it has some reds and light greens
in it too which makes it easier
to blend lots of things I already have with it.
Sometimes you just get lucky don't you!
Did you know that all wool and silk rugs
have a "Light" and "Dark" side?
My rug guy told me that years ago.
http://rugchick.com/the-dark-side-of-the-rug/
It has to to with the direction of the pile.
I have never forgotten that
and now I always look to see
which side I want to show...
Pottery Barn
I had a few Pottery Barn gift cards
from Christmas so I ordered two
of the camel colored Chenille pillow
covers and a pretty throw.
They came in the mail today.
Perfect timing!
Now I just have to get it all together
before our Realtor Open House next Tuesday!
YIKES!

Until Next Time,
