Small Changes in our Colorado Mountain Home

Remember my little stool that I found at an Estate Sale 

and had stashed away 

until our next trip up here?  

Well, I am happy to report 

that it fits perfectly here 

next to Mr. Jackson's favorite chair.  

The colors go perfectly with the rug.  

I love the earthy print for the mountains.  

I wouldn't want too much of this look 

but a little bit here and there is nice.  

Of course it needs to be cleaned up a little.  

I have a small Bissell carpet cleaner 

that should do the trick.  

We really needed an ottoman here 

and this is the perfect size for this space.  

Another change that I made 

was to this wall in the entry way.  

This is the way it looked before.  

I had my vintage maple leaf frames 

arranged here above the chest.  

I had to laugh when the property management 

called me after I hung them up 

because the maids thought 

that the frames were empty 

because someone had stolen the pictures out of them.

On the media wall side of the Great Room 

I have this chair 

and picture hanging above it.  

I found the print at the Habitat Restore store.  

I love the arrangement 

but when you look at the big picture 

it doesn't really flow.  

See what I mean?  

The two prints are the same size 

and there is nothing on the other side 

of the media cabinet to balance it out.  

Besides, I am seriously contemplating, 

like really seriously, 

putting this chair in my car and driving it home!  

I love this chair and I miss it.  

I feel like since we rent out the house 

it might get ruined 

and then I would be super sad.  

So, down came the print 

and I switcherooed it over the entry chest.  

Much Better!  

I have been having a lot of fun working 

on the house while the girls are relaxing.  

We have been out and about shopping 

and we visited the Ice Castles in Breckenridge.

They were so "Cool"!  

I had fun taking pictures.

Mountain Cabin Estate Sale Finds

ROAD TRIP!!!  

I am taking my girls 

(my daughter and my adopted daughter *wink*) 

up to our home in Colorado for Spring Break.  

We are driving so we can 

bring the dogs with us, 

so I am loading up my car with my Estate Sale 

finds that I have been collecting.  

These are just a few things 

that I have in my stash....  

I am still on the hunt around the house

for things that I have put away 

for the "Colorado House".  

I saw this Kilim rug ottoman for $20.00 

at an Estate Sale and snatched it up!  

I really need an ottoman for a chair 

we have in the Great Room.  

I love the colors for up in the mountains.

I have had this willow basket for a while...  

That's the way it works you know.... 

I use it here for a while 

and then I transport it up to the cabin 

and it takes on a whole new life.

This original painting was created 

by a dear friend of ours.  

This is the view from our deck 

as she painted it last year.  

What a treasure to keep!  

Another landscape painting 

from an Estate Sale.  

This one is kind of moody with the scary trees.  

I have a collection of landscapes in our hallway.

A tole painted tray 

and some candle holders.  

The candle holders are from Tuesday Morning.  

I am always on the lookout for accessory items 

that have a rustic theme.

And lastly, these adorable napkins from April Cornell.  

I really want to keep them 

at home and play with them 

but I know their true home is in Colorado!  

OK, gotta get packing!

Mountain Home Tour~ Part 2

Taken at the Continental Divide

 I had so much fun sharing our Colorado Mountain Home 

with you last week.  

It's so interesting to see the rooms in the eye of the camera, 

it makes me realize 

that I really need to step up the decorating there. 

 It's just one of those difficult situations, I guess.

  I can never really spend enough time up there to get it done.  Anyway, on with the second part of the tour.  

 The Basement level of the house holds the second living area that the kids mostly use 

for game playing and lounging around.

  How BIG is that TV? 

 The previous owners left it there and if we ever decide to get rid of it we are going to need an army to move it!  

You can see the hallway that leads upstairs. 

 There are three bedrooms downstairs and a laundry room that actually sleeps two! 

 Hey, I say squeeze'em in!  

We figured out that the house can comfortably sleep 13 people.  That's not counting couches either!  

The first bedroom has a Queen bed that used to be in the Master.  The Master Beaux likes to sleep in a King sized bed.  So, we put the old bed down here and it's great for a second couple to sleep downstairs with their kids.  

I love this JCP bedding.  

It's from the American Living collection. 

 I'm sad now that they have changed their store.  

The home department is really lacking.  

Do you agree?

The middle bedroom has two sets of bunk beds for the kids.  Miss Beaux always chooses this room with her friends and my niece.  It doesn't matter how old they get there is usually a FORT made in this room by the end of the trip!  We bought these beds up in Breckenridge one year on sale. 

 We wanted as much sleeping room as possible.

The last bedroom is my favorite.  

I love the log beds. 

 I usually change the bedding out in the summer

 to a lighter pattern.  The hollywood bath connects to the other bunk bed room leaving 

the hallway bathroom for the Queen room.

The Master Suite is upstairs all by itself. 

Our private little getaway! 

It's very bright and airy up here even though I had it painted in Latte by Sherwin Williams which is a pretty dark color.  The new King headboard is leather and wood with nailhead trim.  All of the other furniture was left to us.  But, hey I'm keeping it!  It is all mostly from Ethan Allen and very nice.  

I love all of the interesting architectural angles in the roof lines.  There is a beautiful wood beam that runs across the top that you can't see in the picture.  The room has wood floors with a custom rug that was made to span the length of the room.  It keeps it warmer in the winter. 

 We actually have radiant heat flooring all through the house and it gets pretty toasty. 

 There is my little Alpine Cutie chest that I repainted. 

 It finally made it's way up the mountain.

  Now I just need to accessorize it with a lamp and a painting!  I'm really beginning to feel Amish with my minimal decor when I look at these photos!  No offense to the beautiful Amish people of course!  We have two huge closets up here.  One in the Master Bath and the other is the door that you see here.  We keep most of our things locked up in the closet while we are gone.  

 But here is my favorite part of the room!

  The view when I wake up!  

I never get tired of looking out through the trees.  

It's beautiful all through the year!  

My favorite pastime is to play with my camera.  

I don't think you can take a bad photo up here!

Especially when your subjects are this CUTE!!!
