Anthro Knock Off Drapes

Good Morning and Happy Monday Everyone!
I'm still working on my Guest Room and I shared some of the progress here.
I hope to have it finished soon so that I can share the whole room with you.
In the meantime, I want to show you the Drapes that I hung this weekend.  I was searching around on my computer looking for Drapery Inspiration and I came across these beautiful Anthropologie Drapes
with Ruffles down the middle.
Anthropologie Wandering Pleats Curtain
They were just what I wanted!
Ooops! They were $188.00 a panel!
 WHAT?
OK, I put my thinking cap on and thought... I can make these!  I kept the idea in the back of my mind as I continued with the other projects for the room.
As I was Pinteresting one day,
I ran across a tutorial on how to make them.
  It was fate!
Before I even got to the fabric store I was at Target looking for something.
I ended up on the Bedding section and thought "Why can't I use a sheet for the Drapes?"
I bought the softest sheet available for $14.00 and I washed it before I started sewing.  I measured my window to make sure that I would have enough sheet material.  I cut the panel with allowances for the seam at the edge and I ripped the rest of the sheet into 6" strips.
Here's the fun part!
Get out your ironing board and a chair cause you will be here for a while!
Hubs watched TV while I sat and ironed ..... and ironed..... each strip into pleats of 1/2 inch all the way down.  They don't have to be perfect...
When each strip was finished I placed masking tape on each side to hold it down.  This worked fantastically well.
I sewed the finishing edge on the panel and hemmed it to the length that I wanted.  My plan was to use the top of the sheet to hang on the rod as it is already sewn for you.   For my window I needed 92" in length.  The width of the panel is 58" and I only wanted one panel as the window is small.
I measured 18 inches from each side and sewed the strips down the middle checking my measurements as I continued sewing down the panel.  I completed the other side the same way.  Now, here is the fun part!
Take the pleats and smoosh them this way and that as you use the highest steam level on your iron to make the messy looking ruffles.
I really love the way they look, so soft and just feminine enough for the look that I was going for.  Best of all I saved about $174.00!!!
I'm so excited to show you this room but there are a few things that have to be finished.

Hope you don't mind waiting!

Steamed Milk on the Walls: Guest Room Progress

So, A while back I mentioned the Redo of our Basement Guest Room.  Well, with my mom visiting, the progress has been slow, but here is what I've done thus far.

Remember the Inspiration Photo:
And the Before picture:
Here is how it looks today:

New Sheets for the bed.
Walls are Painted.
Steamed Milk SW 7554
Doesn't that sound yummy?
The Bench has been recovered.
(Here is what it looked like before)

Progress is being made!
I'm trying to decide whether to paint the bed-frame or leave it "as is".

Friday Finds and A Room Re-do

I'm so excited to show you my Friday Finds and share a re-do Before at the same time.  I'm still in the middle of preparing for Mom so I only have a minute or two...

I was out doing some bargain hunting for work.  I always need a ton of accessories and NOW is the best time to get the good deals!  Everything is discounted before the new spring inventory is put out.  And believe me they are starting to put it all out there!
From Ballard website
I have been looking for a white Garden Seat FOREVER!!! I just refuse to pay over $100 for one.  In the
Ballard Catalog they have them right now for $139.00.  Too much for me to pay.  So I am at Home Goods yesterday and one of  the Gals that works there is wheeling her cart to place new merchandise out and what do I see???

YES!!! I almost had a heart attack when she said it was only $49.00.  I couldn't get it in my cart fast enough!  Wheeeeeeeee!  I think it is prettier than the Ballard one and the price was oh so sweet.

My other finds bring me to my Room Re-Do.  I've been collecting items to redo the guest bedroom downstairs in the Basement.  I didn't have time to get any of it finished before Mom visits but I am going to make a few changes right now so I wanted to take pictures to show you the REAL Before shots.
I hate showing this picture but it's the real deal.  This room is kind of a catch-all for discarded furniture.  I mean it looks OK I guess but it's not really saying "I care about my Guests".  And then the Silk Plaid Chair got thrown in there and it doesn't match AT ALL!!! It was in my bedroom until we did a mini re-do in there.
Another View:  The table had a pitiful tablecloth over it.  It's an antique leather inset table that my Mom gave to me a while back.
The Armoire is ancient from when Mr. Beaux and I were first married 29 years ago.  See what I mean about discarded furniture?

So, here are my Inspiration Photos: All from Pinterest (where else?)

OK, you get the idea.  The room is badly in need of paint and I already have a few Gallons of SW 7555 Patience from a sale that they had for 40% off.

My other Fabulous Friday Find is this Bedspread...

Looks exactly like the one in the first Inspiration Photo right?  I had been eying it at Stein Mart for about three weeks and at $75.00 I just couldn't buy it.  I went in a few days before Christmas and checked to see if it was still there... I finally decided that it was meant to be and picked it up a little regretfully, as I thought the next time I come to check on it it will be gone.  The cute little checkout boy, and I mean boy he looked about 18, reached under the counter and scanned a 30% off coupon and sang out "Merry Christmas"!!!  Well Merry Christmas to me indeed! Final price was $49.00!  Patience pays off again.
Here are two sweet pillows that I might use. One was $8.00 and the other $12.00. Home Goods and Tuesday Morning I think.

My last item is this A-Dorable print that I picked up in a Consignment shop about a month ago.

So there you have it!  My Friday Finds and Room Re-Do in the making.  Sorry if this post is a little Rambly I just have a million things on my mind...
