Why I shop at Consignment Stores and Estate Sales...

My BFF and I hit the stores on Saturday
looking for furniture and odds and ends for her MIL.
And when I say stores
I'm not talking about the mall
or those big box stores,
I'm talking about hitting up our favorite
consignment stores and then haunting
a few Estate Sales on the side.
Look at this great rooster pillow
that I found at my very favorite consignment store!
I just couldn't pass it up.
I love the vibrant red velvet backing.
It's a perfect color for the holidays!
And look at the adorable bows on each side.
You would never see this at a mass market store.
Well, maybe you would
but you would be paying a lot more than what I paid!
I also bought this Waverly pillow for about $20.00.
I actually have both of these fabrics
but I haven't had a minute to sew any pillows.
I guess it was a little bit of
instant gratification!
We didn't find the furniture we were looking for
but that is part of the fun!
We enjoy the process of the hunt
as much as we enjoy the kill of a good bargain!

I also like that fact that I am buying
vintage goods instead of
mass produced items.

Maybe I am shrinking my
carbon footprint just
a little bit...
Here's another good tip...
Like your favorite consignment stores
and your favorite Estate Sale vendors
on Facebook to get the scoop a lot earlier
than the general public!
My consignment store posts pictures
of new furniture and fun items
as they get them in...

Does your area have Estate Sales
and Quality Consignment Stores?

Until Next Time,
Beaux R'eves,

BTW, look who's getting big!  This is his favorite toy.  He is such a sweetie!  Our first vet appointment is tomorrow...

A Once In A Lifetime Estate Sale

I had been looking forward to this Epic Estate Sale
for the whole month of August!
One of my favorite Estate Sale Companies,
Brown Button, was holding an Art and Antique
sale in downtown Kansas City.
I previewed the sale online
and they had so many beautiful paintings
that it literally hurt my eyes!
If you know me,
then you know that I absolutely
ADORE landscape paintings!
I just sit and stare at my favorites
whenever I go to museums,
I just get lost in them.
My BFF and I went to the sale on Saturday.
The weather was just gorgeous BTW.
We talked to the Brown Button guys
(my BFF and I love the 40's vests and caps that they wear)
and they told us the inside scoop...
Apparently,  a very large Midwestern Bank chain
was doing some remodeling of their offices.
Instead of selling the paintings and furniture themselves,
they decided it would be better for them to donate everything to a charity group.
The charity group then hired
Brown Button to hold the sale.
I was afraid that the prices would edge me out
of most of the paintings.
They were all original oils
so I knew they had to be expensive.
But, what the heck, a girl can look can't she?
Well, you can see by my living room
that the prices were quite reasonable!
AND, they were discounting them by 35% that day.
The paintings are all about 30X34 inches large
and in beautiful ornate gold frames.
They were all so pretty
that it made it very hard to choose.
I walked around a few times to look at them all.
I finally decided on two that loved
and asked the guys to hold them for me.
Well, you know there is a story coming don't you?
The guys got the ladder
and got one down and I went over
to get the other one
and there was only an empty hook on the wall!
EEEEKK!
A lady was snatching up paintings left and right...
The helpful worker whispered
that she was only
going to pick two
out of the ones that she was holding.
So my BFF of course, set about to persuade her
to choose two that I didn't want!
Ahhh, a true friend!
I wanted to buy quite a few
so I called Mr. Beaux
and he came down to help me choose the rest.
It really was a once in a lifetime chance
to own some fantastic art.
I think I will bring this one up to Colorado.
 This one is my favorite!
It is larger than the rest
so it will be a focal point on my new gallery wall
going up the stairs.

I have so many things that I have been working on that I want to share with you all...
I hope you will come back and visit to
see what I have been up to!

Until Next Time,

Playing Hookey To Go Estate Sale-Ing!

I played Hookey from work today
and I blame EstateSales.net!
Not only did I play Hookey
but the degenerate side of me
made the call to the school
to get Miss Beaux out of class
to play along with me!
Now, don't get me wrong here,
I support education and believe that all children
should be in school etc., etc.
But everyone should get a mental health day
with their mom, right?
There was a HUGE model home sale
starting today that I didn't want to miss.
The builder is well known and very established
and I knew they would have some great finds.
AND, I promised her a Starbucks on the way there!
This is only a portion of the huge warehouse!
Most of the furniture was dated
but in great shape as no one had really ever sat on it.
Pillows anyone?
I sent this pic to Mr. Beaux
and he thought we were in the garden section at Lowe's!
Tons of accessories!
Miss Beaux wanted to bring the Sputnik clock home
but it was broken!
When I was perusing EstateSales.net
I spied this white chair.
I figured it might be too expensive
for my Estate Sale budget
but I knew I needed to check it out.
I liked the lines of it
and I thought the size was perfect for a bedroom.
When I saw the price I flipped out!
Can you believe only $54.00?
It is in pristine condition
without a mark on the fabric!
I love the soft tufting and the covered buttons.
The legs need a little Restor-A-Finish
on them I think
but that's an easy fix.
When I was hauling it out
to the car a lady that was entering the sale said " Well there goes my chair!"
That's when you know you have a great find!
I can't wait to put it in it's new home!

Speaking of... Here is a little sneak peak of the Hardwoods in the Master.
Not a very good photo
but this is after the first coat of sealer
went over the stain yesterday.
Today was two more coats
with buffing in between.
I am so glad we are doing this!

So, the rest of the day was spent with Miss Beaux
at more Estate Sales
and Lunch at the Corner Bakery.
We had a blast and laughed a lot
at the funny things that we saw.
We found these two hilarious cats
at the big sale
but sadly left them behind, Ha ha.

She did talk me into buying her a 50 cent cat mug though.

We brought other goodies home too
which I will share with you later.

Until Next Time,
