Happy Monday!
I don't know how it is where you live
but it is COLD here!
Really Cold!
So I wanted to share some of my
Winter Essentials for the Master Bedroom.
The first thing I did
was to sew up some new pillows.
You can NEVER have enough pillows
on the bed right?
I wanted to brighten the room a little
and layer the fabrics...
Just like you would layer up
your clothing in the winter.
I found a really nice fabric at Nell Hills
and I kept the swatch in my purse forever!
Of course, I never got back over there
to buy the fabric but I found something similar
at JoAnne's on sale.
I might even like it better...
I had the tassel fringe already.
Goodness knows why I had it but I did.
I made envelope pillows the same way
that I did in this post.
I would do a tutorial but I don't sew that well
and there are a lot of tutorials
and videos out there already.
I love the way it coordinates
but adds some warmth to the other fabrics.
That reminds me...
I was flipping through the new Ballard catalog
the other day (that's where I ordered the toile comforter duvet and shams) and I saw this...
Do you see what I see?
Ballard |
They added a Buffalo Check duvet cover
and shams just like the shams that I made!
Are they reading my blog? LOL
Ballard |
Well, I guess all I can say is "Good Choice Ballard"!
It does look nice together doesn't it?
And it's not like toile and buffalo checks
is a brand new idea...
OK, I got off topic.
Back to the Winter Essentials.
A throw is essential for me in the winter.
We have them in every room of the house.
If I am sitting up reading in bed my shoulders get cold.
On my bedside table I have a tray
that holds more Winter Essentials.
Hand cream is definitely essential
in the cold dry winters here in the Midwest.
I have Kitchen hand cream,
bathroom hand cream,
work hand cream and
stop light hand cream.
You know what stop light hand cream is right?
The hand cream you apply at the stop light!
That is assuming you are not texting!
The tray also has my fluffy
aloe gloves that I put on after the hand cream.
They don't stay on all night but it does help.
My reading glasses are there
and a spot for my jewelery too.
And one can't forget fluffy soft slippers!
This is how I would like to spend the whole Winter...
Right here, curled up with a cup of tea
and a good book, or two or three...
What are your Winter Essentials?
Until Next Time,
Beaux R'eves

Ha! I am right there with you on the hand cream front! The bed is just lovely. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteCindy your bedding is BEAUTIFUL!!
ReplyDeleteI just luv your bed Cindy.)
ReplyDeleteI have mostly all you have except the hand cream and gloves ... North Central Florida gets a bit nippy, for instance our low tonight will be 44 , in the 30's the rest of the week, but not long stretches of cold like yours. But the pillows... the throw... the covers... sigh. Cozy and snuggle for the cooler temperatures.
Looks beautifully cozy! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteIf there was one thing I could pluck out of blogland and put in my home it would be that gorgeous marble topped table/chest by your bed. I started following your blog because of that chest and I still love it. I'm right there with you on how to spend these cold winter days. And the next few days will be the coldest of the season so far.
ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago my husband worked ABC Carpet and Home in New York. One of the first things he purchased for me was a Cashmere Blanket. It was our first married Christmas. At the time we lived in a one bedroom garden apartment that was always hot. I couldn't even fathom using that blanket. Well now that we are in our home I pull that beautiful blanket out every year with pleasure.
ReplyDeleteThis may sound like a dumb question, but aside from the lovely decorator pillows on the bed, where do you keep the pillows you actually sleep with at night?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ensemble you've put together. Love those soft and "easy to live with" colors and the floral touch is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jeannie, the bedside chest is so beautiful.
Great winter essentials and yes, stop light hand cream is another!!! I got a new duvet cover for Christmas and have to get some shams to go with it and then will do my WINTER bed. A throw is ALWAYS on my bed for sure!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely certain they stole that pillow idea from you! That bedroom is pretty enough to spend the whole winter in.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like the coziest place to spend cold winter nights. The mix of patterns is perfect and makes the bedding look so custom and well-designed. I'd love for you to share this fantastic room at my link party at http://www.andersonandgrant.com/2015/01/4-ways-to-transform-your-furniture-your.html. Have an amazing day, Cindy!
