Gallery on the Stairs

I am over the top excited
and thrilled that I finally
got my beautiful landscape paintings
hung on the stairs this weekend!
If you remember, I bought these (some of them)
paintings at a fabulous Estate Sale a few weeks ago.
Here is what the stairs looked like before.
Hello, Medieval Times
is calling and they want their Tapestry back!
I was tired of the sconces also.
You know how the sales guy is talking you
into something and you live all the way
in California and you are trying
to build your house long distance
and he tells you how they match
the chandelier and you are so tired
because you have three little kids
so you just say "OK, whatever!".
Yeah, it was like that.
  So, switcheroo to the sconces
that I had in the Hearth Room
that I liked but I always thought
they were a bit too chunky for the space.
It was an easy switch
(because I wasn't the one doing it).
I laid the paintings out on the floor
to see how I should arrange them.
Yes, I see that I have a lot of projects
going on in the Living Room.
Just focus on the beautiful paintings!
Scary ladder time for Mr. Beaux!
I am the official holder of the ladder...
We went to see the movie "Gone Girl" this weekend...
Super twisty plot!
I promise that I did NOT
up his insurance before this project,
if you know what I mean...
Aren't they all so spectacular!
What you don't get through photographs
is how large the paintings actually are.
The tall painting is about 4' high.
I know it's hard to judge
how it really looks by this photograph
but trust me, it's pretty awesome.
My ceilings are about 20 feet tall
where the paintings are hanging
and they look awe inspiring
when you are standing at the bottom
of the stairs looking up.
Job well done, Mr. Beaux!

Until Next Time,
Beaux R'eves,

  1. The paintings are beautiful and you both did a wonderful job hanging them!! I've always loved landscape paintings but have not been able to purchase one. Yours look very important hanging on the stair wall.....well done!!!

  2. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I say: Well, yeah, awesome. But is your insurance paid up in case anyone actually tries to look at the paintings while on the stairs? This arrangement would not let me sleep at night. Since i love art and would most likely want to look up close and personal, and the carpet doesn't make for stable footing…... But if it's just decor or folks who don't care…..well, okay….

  3. Hi Marje, The photos are deceptive, the paintings are quite large and you can see the artwork perfectly from the bottom of the stairs as well as on the stairs. I also believe that artwork is meant to be viewed from a distance not up close. Have you really ever stood close to a painting to view it? I don't have a lot of wall space in my home as it is filled with beautiful windows so this was the perfect space for the gallery. Thanks for your comments.

  8. Those are beautiful paintings and how lucky you are to have a wall large enough to show them off!

  9. What a wonderful grouping and great space to hang them. The landscapes are all so lovely and show up so well there. I was also noticing your carpet and wondered if you knew the brand? I love a patterned carpet but haven't found the one I can live with yet; yours looks like I'd enjoy it. Thanks for sharing, Vicki in Louisville Ky

  12. So cohesive--I love it. Gallery walls are not easy to pull off. We have started one in our house and it has been fun. So far I am happy with it---haven't done a post on it yet because it is a little 'naked' still. A few more paintings up and I will be ready to share.
Yours looks especially gorgeous since your wall is curved.
    Fondly,
    -Lisa
