I hope you all had a wonderful Fall weekend!
The weather here was perfectly crisp
and certainly fall like!
I love being able to put on my jeans
and boots with a sweater
on these beautiful fall weekends.
Mr. Beaux and I ran lots of errands...
We picked out new sconces
for the Hearth room
but they are on back order
so it will be a few weeks.
My new old chair is ready
at the upholsterers but
I won't be able to pick it up until Monday.
Trust me, it is KILLING me!
I can't wait!
I also worked on a project
that I have been putting off for a while.
I bought this China Hutch
at an Estate Sale this summer.
I didn't pay that much for it...
Only $245.00.
I loved the lines and the
chicken wire instead of glass.
Mr. Beaux and my oldest son
moved it from the Estate Sale house
in Mr. Beaux's red truck
that he calls "Clifford".
Let me tell you that I was their LEAST
favorite person on that day!
Most China Hutch's this large
are in two pieces but not this bad boy!
And, the house that we took it out of
had low ceilings
making it a logistical nightmare.
We (haha, I say we like I was the one moving it)
finally got it out of the house
into the truck and to it's new home.
And now a foreword to all of you folks
that cringe at the sight of painted wood...
LOOK AWAY, NOW...

I think it's very pretty the way it is.....
But I had dreams of a painted piece in my head.

So the process has begun.
Now I mentioned that I was putting this project off.
Why? You ask...
Because if you know me and my
Obsessive Compulsive behavior
then you know that once I start something
I don't stop.
I start in the morning in my pajamas
and keep painting til late at night.
UGH, yesterday the next door neighbor
came to the door with a lost cat
and I had pj bottoms on at 1:00 in the afternoon.
Of course I am outside petting
the adorable cat (that I am allergic to).
So, the process has begun.
I started with ASCP coco.
I originally thought that I would paint it
old white but then I thought better of it.
I actually bought French Linen
because I love the color.
But when I tried some samples
on the piece it was just too gray for my taste.
I am really a warmer toned person.
I love painting and I get lost in the process.
It's the perfect excuse
to listen to music and daydream.
I'm trying out different scenarios
so right now I don't know how it will turn out.
But that is part of the creative process
now isn't it?
Stay tuned...
Until Next Time,

Looking good Cindy!! I am just like you when I start a project I keep going till I'm done...does the family really need to eat lol!!
ReplyDeleteOh, that is going to look so good and what a great buy! I wish I could find an armoire in a French design for our master in place of the horrible one my hubby uses now. Hopefully one day I will find one I can work on.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I paint in my jammies, too a lot of the time. I hate to stop and get dressed.
ReplyDeletelove it! it looks great!
ReplyDeleteOh my word what a gorgeous piece of furniture! You REALLY scored and I cannot wait till your final and completed "big reveal!"
ReplyDeleteThat's the perfect piece to get painted, didn't pay much for it, not a valuable antique, and its what yu like!!! I like the warmer color also......and when I get going on a project, also stay in my jammies and work all day into the night!! My sister always asks me why I have so many pajama sets in my closets......I tell her they're my uniforms !!!
ReplyDeleteThere's wood and then there's wood--this one is a painter! Yes to warmer colors too. Isn't if fun how the piece talks to you and let's you know how it wants to look? My sweetie sometimes questions my refinishing choices so I just tell him I can't argue with the furniture.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful piece. I can't wait to see the final reveal!!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful...love the "bones" of it...I too am in the process of painting a country french dining hutch...but had to stop due to travels, etc..so hope to get back to it soon....looking great so far....can't wait to see the reveal...
ReplyDeleteI want to paint an old dresser I bought at a garage sale. It is the same color wood as this china cabinet. I want to paint it gray. Did you have to strip it first or do you just paint right over it? Just wondering before I begin this process.
ReplyDeleteditto to the jammies and ocd painting schedule. Love the Coco, can't wait to see the finished piece!
ReplyDeleteAren't jammies official painting clothes? ;) I always paint in them too. Love the painted hutch. -Kristi
ReplyDeleteLove your hutch...can't wait to see it all full and where it will "live" in your home!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great looking hutch. Can't wait to see it completed. Ann Marie @ Iris Abbey
