My New Doughbowl~Estate Sale Style

OK Everyone, I know I must be the LAST person in Blogland to own a Doughbowl!
Trust me I've been dreaming of owning my own
doughbowl for quite some time.
I've even decorated it in my mind for every season.
(Hey, I redecorate every room I enter in my mind and I KNOW that you do it too!)
I have passed them up a few times just because I have a hard time spending over $100 for an old piece of wood.
But this week was my Lucky week!
I spied on at an Estate Sale that started on Thursday.
It was the first one I hit on my rounds.
There she was waiting in the Basement for me!
It was $65 and came with the Pinecones.
Hey, I'll take them!
It was a tad dusty so I polished her up a bit.
Ohhhhhh, Looking pretty!
I guess if you were going to knead dough in this you should use Mineral Oil or Almond Oil.
I am only going to use it for decoration purposes so I used what was handy.
Wouldn't it look wonderful with Hydrangeas
in the Spring or Summer?
Or, Simple Candles anytime of year?
Or, A Harvest full of gourds and leaves.
Yep, I thrilled to finally own a Doughbowl!
And I saved some Dough too!

PS. Come back to see what else I scored this week!  And, a tour of my Fall Kitchen and Hearth Room.

Until Next Time,
Beaux R'eves
XO Cindy

  1. I recently bought a dough bowl that is huge - too big. I think it's too big for a table top, but I got caught up in the moment when I saw it. I call it my canoe. It is leaning against the wall in our kitchen and looks nice there.

  4. I love dough bowls too. My mother had one that I would love to have, but my sister was the 'smart' one who got it. I hope her children realize what they have, since she is no longer living. I have thought many times about asking for it, but don't want to seem greedy. Yours is beautiful, and I know you will enjoy it so much!

  7. Oh no. I think I have seen a couple. But I only saw the before in my head. Now seeing yours all polished up and displayed so nicely on the granite...I want one now!! Love it.

  8. You're not the last to own one! I've been wanting to find one forever, but just like you, I couldn't find one under $100 or so. I finally found one this last weekend as well and it was a splurge as I spent over $100, but it's a giant one though... I have a fairly large table so I think it's okay, but I can't wait to decorate with it! I'm just happy to finally have one...

  11. I have wanted one of these forever!!! My grandmother had one and when I see one I can envision her standing over her dough bowl making her wonderful homemade biscuits or pie crust. I was sure hoping to get hers when she passed away but it ended up in another relatives hands and was quickly sold, much to my dismay.

Thanks for the fond memories, enjoy!

  15. You are definitely not the last! I have been craving one for a long time as well, but also can't justify spending that much! Someday I'll find a perfect one I am sure :)

  16. LOVE your doughbowl! I didn't luck up on one that I was willing to pay for until this summer. It's smaller than yours, but was only $28. Great tip for giving it a "drink". Loved all of the inspiration.
