Earlier this week I introduced you to Delilah, my new Estate Sale chair . I knew when I found her in the basement that although she was in perfect
condition that she needed a little TLC.
Her seat cushion was a little flat and saggy.
~Sigh~
It happens to the best of us.
So today, I remembered the conversation I had with my BFF as I was deciding whether or not to buy her.
You see, my BFF used to work in the Drapery Business
in Texas as a Designer/Salesperson.
She is a wealth of information!
I always learn something new that I can incorporate
into my own work.
Besides that, she is Hilarious and we have such fun together!
Back to my story. . .
I commented on how her seat was a little lackluster and BFF says casually, "You know we used to buy down pillows from Sears and just cut them up and use them for stuffing." Hmmmmm, I filed that into my "Info to use later" file and loaded the chair into the car.
Let's test the theory shall we?
I found an old down pillow that I wasn't using.
Haha, it was on Mr. B's side of the bed.
Hey, I said that "I" wasn't using it!
Don't worry, I'll replace it...
I busted it open and found all of this super soft white down. Word to the wise: Turn off the ceiling fan before attempting this project.
I unzipped Delilah's seat cushion (no wonder she has a new dress on- hello 1985) and unzipped the cover under that one. You can see the foam cushion and the sparse batting around it. I stuffed the down into the old cushion cover so that way I can unzip Delilah's new dress and send it to the cleaners anytime I want.
I just stuffed it way down in there and used almost the whole pillow.
I zipped her back up and tried her out.
Nope, a little more I think.
There, perfect!
Nice! Soft and cushy!
I know it's not THAT big of a deal but it sure looks better to me. And to think not ONE Squat or Lunge was performed in this seat enhancement!

Love Delilah--good tip for fluffing up sagging seats! One question--what tips can you give for making sure there are no bugs or critters hiding out, and how do you get any odors out. I know vacuuming gets the dust--but what about spots or stains. A post on this might be useful. Thanks...
ReplyDeleteWooohooo! That's one of the best tips I've heard in a while. I will definitely remember this. It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely looks better..I have lots of down pillows that I just can't part with ..Love them because you can mold them any way you want them...Who knows what's living in them..They're old!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great. I'm going to file that tidbit of advice away in my file cabinet. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Cindy. We have quite the sagging sofa here but the fabric is charming and it sleeps so well. I am not giving up on it and see you have given me an idea. Thanks a bundle.
ReplyDeleteCindy, this is one of the BEST tips I've come across in a long time. I just picked up a Bernhardt chair on Craigslist for "fah-ree" and it could use a little stuffing to plump up the cushion. Love, love, love this tip! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tip!! I'm visiting from TT&T!
ReplyDeleteShe's looking great now! Beautiful find!
ReplyDeleteThat is fantastic!!! Thanks for sharing this great tip! The chair now looks brand new!!! XO, Pinky

What a fab idea; I love it!! I am going to steal this one. I'm a new follower.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tip! Sure enough, Delilah looks way better, more voluptous!:)
ReplyDeleteI love anything that enhances the seat without squats or lunges! It looks much more comfy now that it's got more junk in the trunk! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree that the chair looks perfect in every other way. What a good idea to use down pillows that have gone too flat to use to stuff other things! Thanks for stopping by my blog & becoming a follower...I'm returning the favor! :)

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found
ReplyDeletea sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely
off topic but I had to tell someone!
