On New Years Day the Family got together for a late Brunch. My boys were dragging after being up late but they were happy to eat a nice hot breakfast!
My Sister had sent this Basket full of goodies from Vermont. YUM!!!
And my Mom sent a few of these fabulous coffee cakes. The kids had already devoured one before Christmas so I stashed this one in the freezer.
On the menu:
Pancakes
Bacon
Saugage
Egg and Cheese Casserole
Fruit
Apple Struesal Coffee Cake
Here's a tip... Put your bacon in the oven on a cookie sheet on 350 until it is crispy. That way you don't have to watch it while you do other things. My good friend Kristy taught me that one.
Don't you just love After Christmas Sales! It's more exciting to me than opening gifts. (Shhhhh Don't tell Mr. Beaux that). I found a tablecloth at Target for $8.00 that I cut up and sewed to make these placemats and napkins. The table runner is a scarf from the Gap. The cute Snowman Hot Chocolate Mug was a Michaels find at 89 cents! The white plates are Basics from JCPenny that I use for Staging, and the little Snowman is an After Christmas Sale ornament that will make it to the tree next year. I almost forgot!!! The little sleigh is actually a cupcake holder from Crate and Barrell. How A-Dorable is that?
Snowflakes hang from the light fixture and also surround a cute vase that my Sister sent to me last year with beautiful roses in it. I filled it with Boxwood from the front yard and trimmed it until it had a rounded shape. Crate and Barrel Bowls (another ACSale item) are ready to fill along with Tiny syrup pitchers, Snowflake votives, and cranberry candles.
It was a wonderful New Years Day Brunch! The rest of the day was spent lounging in our PJ's reading books, watching movies, and playing Wii Sports. I am still trying to figure out how to work those darn controllers.
All to soon everyone will back to School and Work and routines... It was nice to spend some time doing nothing at all with the people I love and cherish.
Wishing you a Spendid 2012!

This table is darling! I really wanted those sled cupcake holders, but didn't buy them. They are too cute! What a great idea for your table runner!
ReplyDeleteCindy...this is SO cute!! I love all the red and white! It's so cheery! I bet your kids loved it. And the menu sounds great, too. I have to remember your tip about the bacon.
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs a day to lounge around in their PJ's. Tomorrow may be mine!!

Jane
What a bright and cheery brunch table! I really like the red and white combination. Your placemats and napkins are too cute as are your accessories. The little snowman sledding on the darling cupcake holders is a sweet touch to the tablescape. The dangling snowflakes are a nice addition, too.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!

That cute table would even make a morning grouch smile! Great idea to make placemats and napkins from a tablecloth. I love the little snowmen on the sleds.
ReplyDeleteDoes your sister live in Vermont...it is where I was born and grew up!
I love red and white together. Especially in the dining room and kitchen! Looks great.

Thanks for visiting me and commenting on my winter 'scape! Your table is funny--the red looks great against the black chairs. Very pretty! I'm following you now and hope you'll follow back. :)

ReplyDeleteSo pretty - love the red and white combination!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an inviting table! I love the cheery nature of it!
ReplyDeleteThis is so darling. What a great tablescape to compliment those Christmas gifts. I've got to try baking the bacon -- it sounds like a great way to cook it. Looks like a delightful way to start the new year.
ReplyDeleteThis table is so bright and cheerful. I love it! All the fun details are so cute and just make you smile. Thank you for joining this month's Thrifty Tablescape party! I hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteYou are quite talented as a seamstress, Cindy! I could never even begin to imagine how I might go about MAKING placemats out of anything!!!!! Very nice table to ring in the New Year! I wonder if that bacon cooking method works on turkey bacon, too? Hmmmmmm....I'll have to try it. I can't stand having to tend to bacon while I'm trying to do 100 other things around the kitchen! You got some great after-Christmas bargains!!! Congrats!!! I could hardly find anything around these parts. It's not like "the old days" when you could go in the week after New Year's and find aisles and aisles of goodies at bargain basement prices. Sigh! :-( Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI adore red and white tables! Yours is adorable! The menu sounds wonderful too!!! Love the sled cupcake holders and the snowflake things on the centerpiece. Are they S and P??? XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteThanks Pinky! The Red and White Snowflakes are just wooden pieces from Hobby Lobby that I purchased at 80% off after Christmas. Wish they had more! Have a great day...
